Republic Day 2024 Speech: A Powerful Address on Ganatantra Diwas in Hindi

Greetings to everyone present on this special occasion as we come together to celebrate the 73rd Republic Day of India. On 26th January 1950, our country adopted the Indian Constitution, marking the establishment of a sovereign republic. This day holds immense significance as we remember the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and the visionary leaders who played a pivotal role in shaping the destiny of our great nation.

1. Historical Background

  • A Journey to Independence: When India gained independence from British rule on 15th August 1947, we didn’t have our own constitution. Under the leadership of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, a committee was formed, and the draft of the Indian Constitution was prepared.
  • Formal Adoption: The Indian Constitution was presented before the Constituent Assembly on 26th November 1949 and formally adopted on that day. However, it came into effect on 26th January 1950, turning India into a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic.

2. Significance of Republic Day

  • Symbol of Freedom: Republic Day is celebrated every year on 26th January, symbolizing the day when we became a republic. The Rajpath parade showcases the might and bravery of our armed forces, instilling a sense of pride in every Indian.
  • Tribute to Leaders: This day serves as a tribute to the great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, Lala Lajpat Rai, Sardar Patel, and Lal Bahadur Shastri, who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of our nation.

3. Upholding the Values of Constitution

  • Democratic Rights: The essence of being a republic lies in the power given to the people to elect their representatives. Our Constitution grants us the right to choose our Prime Minister, Chief Ministers, and other leaders.
  • Struggles for Freedom: Our freedom fighters, including Mahatma Gandhi, struggled for “Purna Swaraj” or complete independence for over 200 years. Their sacrifices paved the way for us to exercise our rights freely.

4. Pledge for the Future

  • Building a Strong Nation: On this Republic Day, let us collectively pledge to build a strong and prosperous nation. We should be vigilant citizens, actively participating in the democratic process and ensuring equality and opportunities for all.
  • Awareness on Social Issues: As responsible citizens, let’s raise awareness about crucial social issues such as poverty, unemployment, education, global warming, and inequality. It is our duty to work towards resolving these challenges for a brighter future.

Conclusion

As we celebrate the 73rd Republic Day, let us remember the values that our Constitution upholds. May the spirit of democracy, freedom, and unity continue to guide us on the path of progress. Together, let’s strive to make India a powerful and inclusive nation. Jai Hind!
