ISRO’s ‘Naughty Boy’ will create history! INSAT-3DS satellite launched today; Read how it will work and what is its specialty

ISRO INSAT-3DS Mission The countdown for the launch of meteorological satellite INSAT-3DS has started. The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) will launch meteorological satellite INSAT-3DS from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota today. It will be launched at 5.30 pm. Let us tell you that INSAT-3DS is the mission of the third generation weather satellite to be placed in geostationary orbit.

ISRO INSAT-3DS Mission:

The countdown for the launch of meteorological satellite INSAT-3DS has started. The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) will launch meteorological satellite INSAT-3DS from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota today. It will be launched at 5.30 pm.

Giving information, ISRO said that Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV)-F14 will fly with INSAT-3DS from Satish Dhawan Space Center, Sriharikota at 5:35 pm on Saturday.

What is mission?

  • INSAT-3DS is a third generation weather satellite mission to be placed in geostationary orbit.
  • It is designed to monitor land and ocean surfaces for weather observation, forecasting and disaster warning.
  • In its 16th mission, GSLV aims to deploy INSAT-3DS meteorological satellite in Geosynchronous Satellite Orbit (GTO).
  • The orbit monitoring vehicle will then ensure that the satellite is placed in geostationary orbit.
  • It is designed for better weather observation and monitoring of land and sea surface for weather forecasting and disaster warning.
  • This satellite will enhance meteorological services with the currently operating INSAT-3D and INSAT-3DR satellites.

What is the specialty of INSAT-3DS?

Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) is a three-stage 51.7 meter long launch vehicle, weighing 420 tonnes. The first stage (GS1) consists of a solid propellant (S139) motor carrying 139-tons of propellant and four Earth-stationary propellant stages (L40) strapped on. Each of these contains 40 tonnes of liquid propellant. The second stage (GS2), also filled with 40 tons of propellant, is an Earth-storable propellant stage. The third stage (GS3) is a cryogenic stage, with a propellant loading of 15 tons of liquid oxygen (LOX) and liquid hydrogen (LH2).

Why did you get the name Naughty Boy?

According to ISRO, this is the 16th mission with the GSLV rocket. Before this, 15 missions have been carried out, out of which only four missions have failed. Seeing the success rate of GSLV rocket, it got the name Naughty Boy.

Meteorological Department will benefit

Various departments of the Ministry of Earth Sciences such as India Meteorological Department (IMD), National Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasting, Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, National Institute of Ocean Technology, Indian National Center for Ocean Information Services and other agencies and institutions have been involved in better Will use INSAT-3D satellite data to provide weather forecasting and meteorological services.
