India Heatwave Alert: IMD Predicts Severe Heat in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and More

  • The Meteorological Department says that on May 29, heatwave to severe heatwave conditions are likely in many parts of Rajasthan, parts of Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi and isolated parts of West Uttar Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh.
  • It will gradually decrease. Heatwave conditions are likely in different parts of Himachal Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh on May 29 and May 30.
  • Heatwave conditions can be seen in Chhattisgarh from May 29 to May 30, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Jammu division on May 29. Nights will remain hot in different parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi from May 29 to May 31.

The Meteorological Department has also predicted rain for various states including Assam, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Kerala, West Bengal. IMD says that from May 29, there is a possibility of thunderstorms and rain in Kerala, Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, West Bengal and Sikkim. During this time, strong winds can also blow at a speed of 40 kmph.

After light rain in many districts of Bihar, the temperature has increased once again. The local Meteorological Department of Patna has issued an alert of heat wave along with severe heat in Bhojpur, Aurangabad, Arwal, Buxar, Rohtas and Kaimur districts on Wednesday.
