Tushar Shukla, son of former Chhattisgarh Director General of Police (DGP) Shrimohan Shukla, committed suicide by slitting his throat at his home in Bhopal. Tushar had everything – prestige, money and family, but he had given up hope on life. Tushar, who was unemployed for a long time, was suffering from severe depression for the last few years.
Kamla Nagar police station in-charge Nirupa Pandey said that on Saturday evening, Tushar was in a tin shed room on the roof. During this time, other family members were downstairs. At around six in the evening, the family heard Tushar’s scream. When they ran to the roof, Tushar’s neck was cut and blood was flowing. There were also cut marks on the left wrist.
Tushar Shukla died before reaching the hospital
The family was taking Tushar to Hajela Hospital, but he breathed his last on the way. After checking him in the hospital, the doctors declared Tushar dead. The police have registered a case and started investigation into the matter. His post-mortem will be conducted on Sunday.
The father was the first DGP of Chhattisgarh
This accident has devastated the family of the former DGP. The police said that given the condition of the family, no inquiry has been conducted regarding the reasons for the suicide. Tushar’s father’s family consists of his parents, wife and a son. Tushar’s father was made the first DGP on November 1, 2000 after the formation of Chhattisgarh. He led the police force till May 26, 2001. After retirement, he lived in Vaishali Nagar, Bhopal.
Tushar Shukla was alone in the family too
According to the police, 54-year-old Tushar Shukla was suffering from severe depression for the last two years. He was undergoing treatment. During this time, he neither went out much nor met outsiders. In a way, he had imprisoned himself in the house. He was feeling lonely even among the family.
Had attempted suicide earlier too
Tushar Shukla’s depression had become so suicidal that he tried to commit suicide repeatedly. In the last two years, he had cut his wrist vein twice. His relatives saw him on time and took him to the hospital, which saved his life. But the family could not save him from depression. Ultimately, this depression took his life.
