Skoda’s most affordable EV
This electric car of the company will be Skoda’s smallest and most affordable car till date in the EV segment. Let us tell you that first it will be introduced for the global market and later it can potentially come to India also. Apart from this, Skoda India is planning to launch Enyaq EV in the domestic market by the end of this year.
It had said that the price of its new electric vehicle will be around 25,000 euros (approximately less than Rs 23 lakh). This new electric car of the company will join Enyaq in Skoda’s global EV lineup. As of now, Skoda only offers the Enyaq in different body shapes and trims.
Design, dimensions and battery
It has not shared much information about the upcoming EV. The teaser video reveals a lot about its hatchback-like styling and front face with slim LED headlights and illuminated Skoda logo with DRL units. However, according to reports, the electric car is likely to be based on Volkswagen Group’s MEB entry platform.
The electric car is likely to be offered with two options of battery packs. Skoda can equip this EV with 38kWh unit and 56kWh unit. The maximum range of the EV is expected to be 450 kilometers on a single charge. This EV is expected to compete with the Volkswagen ID.2 electric hatchback in the global market.
Launch timeline
The new EV is likely to be introduced in the global markets first. However, its India launch cannot be ruled out. The carmaker recently said that it is planning to enter the electric car segment in a big way in India soon.
Skoda Enyaq EV
It is currently testing the Enyaq EV for its launch in India, which is expected to happen later this year. The electric SUV, which was showcased during the Bharat Mobility Global Expo earlier this year, will initially be launched in India as a completely built unit (CBU).
According to Skoda, it can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 6.7 seconds. The battery pack is an 82 kWh unit, offering a range of over 500 kilometers on a single charge. With a fast charger, it takes only 28 minutes to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent.
