PCB Agrees to Hybrid Model for 2025 Champions Trophy with Key Condition

Pakistan Cricket Board has agreed to the hybrid model for the Champions Trophy to be held in the year 2025. But they have put a special condition. Pakistan Cricket Board has said that ICC should give them a guarantee that the hybrid model should be prepared for the tournament to be held in India by 2031.

A PCB source says

A PCB source told PTI, “The current situation is that PCB President Mohsin Naqvi has said that he will accept hosting the Champions Trophy on the hybrid model only if the board agrees that in future all ICC competitions will be held on this system and Pakistan will not go to India to play matches.”

Pakistan Cricket Board is constantly adamant on its insistence. It has agreed to the hybrid model. But ICC can refuse to accept this condition of theirs. If ICC accepts this condition of theirs, then no ICC tournament will be held in India till the year 2031. India has to host many tournaments in the coming time.

Pakistan last played a bilateral series in December 2012 and January 2013. Pakistan toured India for a white ball series. India last toured Pakistan for a bilateral series in early 2006. Since then, India has never visited. At the same time, the Pakistan team came to India for the ICC Cricket World Cup in October and November 2023 and played all their matches in the host country.
