Located in Xiadi, China in a paddy field, as the name says, this bookstore was build in an abandoned house. The Xiadi village is 800 years old and its old buildings have been restored in recent years. You can pick from over 7,000 titles and there is also the possibility to have a hot beverage while being there.

Words on the Water, the floating bookstore from London

This bookstore is more accessible to the public because its location is in London. In the beginning, the shop originally alternated locations, but now you can find it in the same place every year.

El Ateneo Grand Splendid, the bookstore hidden inside a historic theatre in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

This building served in the past as a theatre and a cinema. Its architecture and decor have been kept, but now the location has been transformed into a gorgeous bookstore.

Also located in China, this bookstore served in the past as a bomb shelter and government parking lot. The shop was founded in 1999 and can be found in Nanjing.
