Italy is at the moment Europe’s worst-affected country of Coronavirus. More than 300 cases and 12 deaths have been already confirmed, and the numbers are expected to increase in the next few days.
The most recent death case is a 70-year-old from Parma. The person received all the possible intensive care, but all these efforts were in vain. What’s the most disturbing matter is that there are also children who have been tested positive for the virus.
After the outbreak of the virus in Italy, several European countries have announced their first cases as well. The affected countries are: Austria, Croatia, Greece and Switzerland. It seems like all the people who have been infected were previously in a visit to Italy.
Italian Health Minister, Roberto Speranza, said:
“We’re talking about a virus that doesn’t respect borders”.
After this affirmation, the borders of Italy were expected to be closed. But after a meeting of the EU Commission and the Health ministers of France, Germany, Italy that took place this Tuesday, it seems like the borders will remain open. Such a solution was not considered necessary at the moment.
According to The World Health Organization (WHO) 80,980 people had been infected with the Coronavirus, which originated in China.
